This qualification is suitable for people who have a good experience of
Payroll and want to expand their skills and understanding to enable them
to be able to move into a Management position. It is also for those who
are already in such a position, who are keen to improve their skills.
It will teach decision making, problem solving, project planning and change
management – as well as an in-depth knowledge of payroll legislation
and employment law.
About
the qualification
The qualification is level 5 Advanced Professional Diploma in Payroll
Management accredited by Edexcel/BTEC.
On successful completion you can use the letters PA(Dip)Mgt
(Management Member of Payroll Alliance) after your name.
The course is divided into 5 study modules; each module has two assignments
to be completed by the students once they have completed the module's
study material. Feedback is given to the students at each stage of the
Diploma and assignment tips, guidance and use of the Student helpdesk
for advice are provided.
Course Fees
Course Syllabus:
Module 1 introduces students to the
PAYE system and how the tax year is constructed. It also requires the
students to manually calculate tax, NI and statutory payments to arrive
at the correct net pay.
Module 2 covers technical issues
and employment law and includes employee rights, contracts of employment,
termination payments and taxation of benefits in kind.
Module 3 involves payroll procedures
including how to deal with overpayments, data protection, and the correct
treatment of statutory and voluntary deductions
.
Module 4 concentrates on payroll
management and centres around reconciliation procedures, BACS submission,
payments to HMRC and other third parties. How to deal with internal and
external audits and setting up PAYE Settlement Agreements and dispensations
is also dealt with in this module.
Module 5 is the final module and
examines office management such as budgetary control and analysis, delegation
and motivation of staff. Evaluation of payroll systems and integration
of associated systems are also included in this module.
